The Philosophy Microdelivery Peel is a two-part system that consists of a Vitamin C/Peptide Resurfacing Crystals cream and a Lactic/Salicylic Acid Activating Gel. The resurfacing crystals help exfoliate the outermost layers of skin and remove impurities, priming the skin for the second phase.
The activating gel contains lactic and salicylic acids, along with a fruit acid complex and natural enzymes to deeply exfoliate skin and help the skin achieve faster cell turnover rates. Antioxidants are also in both parts of the peel, helping to protect skin and reverse sun and age-related damage.
I picked up the Philosophy Microdelivery Peel to test after my previous exfoliate had ran out. As mentioned, there are two portions to this peel: resurfacing crystals and activating gel. Following the directions that came with the package, I applied the resurfacing crystals to my clean, dry skin and massaged over my face in a circular motion for approximately one minute.
Then, I applied a teaspoon amount of the activating gel to my fingers and massaged that into my skin and on the crystals. As the product activated, I could feel my face becoming warmer and foam appeared, which indicates the product is working correctly and that the Vitamin C and peptides are being absorbed. The results were great; after washing this off, my skin felt incredibly smooth and moisturized.
After using the Philosophy Microdelivery Peel, one may wonder what, if any negative effects there are with using it. Those with sensitive skin may have breakouts or irritation due to the general method in which exfoliation works. Some individuals have complained of flaking and redness after use so please keep this in mind if your skin reacts easily to different treatments. All in all, this product provides excellent exfoliation benefits while simultaneously delivering nutrients to the skin.
How does Philosophy’s peel provide a two-part solution for one’s skin? It mainly comes down to the different ingredients that act upon one another, including:
- Sodium bicarbonate – This comprises the crystals and helps exfoliate the outer layers of skin, making it smooth and more penetrable by nutrients.
- Vitamin C – This crucial supplement helps rejuvenate the skin and increase cell turnover.
- Salicylic acid – Helps shrink pore size and tighten skin, leading to a more youthful-looking face.
