The cosmetic research and development team at Guerlain Cosmetics has released a new compact powder known simply as Guerlain Meteorites. Guerlain is a French cosmetics company that has existed for nearly 200 years and continues to use a combination of state-of-the-art and traditional methods when it comes to designing perfumes, lotions and other cosmetic goods. This compact powder is claimed to be sulfate, phthalate and GMO free and to create a light, sheer look on the face while also creating an even complexion. No company’s claims are free from inspection, so this product will be tested to see what, if any truths there are to this.

The first evaluation is on how well Guerlain Meteorites Compact Powder provides a light yet sufficient coverage to the face. Using the included compact cosmetic pad, an even first layer is applied. I was really shocked at how effective the first layer was in providing coverage; I did go back and fill in a couple of spots in my T-zone, but by and large this compact provides maximum coverage with minimal product.
Secondly, Guerlain Meteorites Compact Powder states that it helps balance and even complexion. Based on observations taken at the same time as the first evaluation, this product does create a effective balance when it comes to complexion; many forms of makeup will do this with enough layers but the sacrifice is completely transforming your skin’s color. This product does it with one layer which allows the balanced complexion to really resemble the natural color of one’s skin.
What, if any, downsides are there to the this Guerlain compact powder? First, an issue that I have observed with many powders, especially European ones: the color range of Rose, Beige and Dore does not take into account darker skin tones. The complex also contains ingredients such as alcohol and sodium hydroxide, which are known skin irritants. Those with sensitive skin should be careful when using this product.
The effectiveness in Guerlain Meteorites is directly linked to some of its active ingredients which include:
• Mica and Iron Oxide – This ingredients add pigment to the complex, allowing for a smooth, even complexion.
• Cetearyl isononanoate – This ingredient provides extra moisturizing action to your skin, which allows the makeup to bond in a more cohesive, natural fashion.
• Calcium alginate – This emulsifier allows the oils and water in the product to mesh in a seamless fashion, preventing your makeup from looking like an oil slick.
What others are saying about Guerlain Meteorites Voyage Compact Powder…
“I adore this product. I bought it over a year ago and there is still plenty in the compact. It’s not inexpensive but it’s worth every penny! The powder illuminates your skin, giving it a ‘glowing’ appearance, while providing good, but not heavy coverage. it is best applied with a brush (sold separately), rather than a puff, to achive a light dusting. The compact itself is a work of art…it’s georgeous (and also refillable). The compact comes with a flat, black, soft cover to prevent it from becoming scratched in your handbag. You can buy this product with confidence. I know you’ll be impressed and want to explore more products from Guerlain.”
“I love this product! The secret is in the color spheres: Mauve attracts light, green tones down redness, pink imparts a healthy glow, gold and pearl create highlights, and white brightens. I apply it over my foundation. As someone who always seems to having trouble picking the right color match for my skin, this product relieves me of that decision and does what it says it will: brighten and provide the skin with a veil of perfection. I like this much better than BE Mineral Veil which seems to make me look pasty white no matter how little or which color I use and that defeats the purpose of a finishing powder. The packaging is beautiful and the compact is sturdy and will last forever. Refills are available so you only need to pay the big bucks for the compact once though these refills are getting harder and harder to find. That said, however, this lasts forever. I will definitely repurchase when and if mine ever runs out even though it is so expensive.”
“I have been looking for something that would add that ‘soft glow’ to my skin for a long time now. I have grown a little tired of foundation and I prefer being able to see the natural skin, blemishes or not, rather than that caked-on look. I use this at the end of my makeup routine.. After using moisturizer, then Guerlain’s Gold Radiance, plus a little blush, I swipe the meteorites on and it looks really soft and naturally glowy (kind of gives your face a finished look and even hides any red spots nicely.) You don’t need much to get the effect either. I also found that at first I wasn’t even sure I was seeing a difference, but after looking more closely and seeing myself in different lighting it was obvious that there was a pleasant, albeit subtle, effect. I highly recommend.”
